Celestial Mechanix

Pochi riescono nel captare visioni e prospettive (e rutilanti memorie) della "realtà" mantendosi in binari stilistici canonici e combinandoli in maniera tale da risultare originali, non troppo manieristi fino a sfociare nella sinestesia pura. E' il caso del roster di questa etichetta californiana, tra cui figura Dj Spooky che per celebrare il trentesimo disco del catalogo, ci regala un eccellente lavoro di assemblaggio di quadretti musicali pregni di un mood che in letteratura potrebbere trovar riflesso negli scritti socio-facsimili di Anthony Burgess o nel romanticismo gotico-orientalista di William Beckford, riflesso disciolto nella soluzione corrosiva della confusione tele-indotta, nell'urbionica e nelle vicende che marchiano la storia di questa giorni (no more transfusion of blood for oil è un invito roboante a cui non possiamo che unirci nella lirica di Saul Williams in Not In Our Name, ricostruita da Paul Miller, verbigeroso anthem a ricordare che certuni omaccioni guerrafondai non hanno il diritto a parlare nel nome di un intera popolazione se le contestazioni per scelte di politica-economica e politica estera si assommano ad invocare l'assunzione di ruoli differenti anche alla luce dell'evoluzione tecnologico nell'ambito della produzione energetica). Un walking through in un inferno che ha del vathekiano tra set di violoncello e basso, hip-hop, riverberi, jazz si direbbe, nella quale neanche le modulazioni che oscillano tra il Comandante Bush e il Capitano Kirk vi distrarranno dall'apprezzare e plaudire ai gingilli jazzhopistici di William Parker, Craig Taborn, Matthew Shipp, gli interludi di Mad Professor e l'evocativa hip-hop dell'AntiPop Consortium e dello stesso Spooky. Un disco irrinunciabile.
