Doppio vinile multigusto in salsa Sonix per l'estate, un poker di brani che si muovono secondo le principali anime della direzione della label: ovvero la propensione per i duri suoni sintetici da una parte e l'oldschool sempre nelle vene dall'altra.
Il primo vinile vede i padroni di casa proporre "Ham & eggs" in doppia versione: l'originale esplode, dopo un intro fluido e luccicante, in una stranita e tellurica bassline dai tratti quasi a la Full Cycle, accoppiandola ad azzeccati vocals femminili e riff di piano; il remix, a cura di Trace, riesce a sorprendere forse anche di più, dato che ci si aspetterebbe, viste le recenti produzioni di questo pioniere del suono drum'n'bass, un suono aggressivo e di deriva technoide: il nostro Trace, invece, si dirige verso territori più minimali e percussivi, asciugando tutto l'arrangiamento in un roller dall'andatura a spirale, mantenendo inalterata la potenza dell'originale, ma stemperandola su pulsioni ipnotiche.
La terza side vede il ritorno sulla label dello statunitense Status, alfiere di un suono decisamente duro e meccanico, pur se infarcito di richiami alla vecchia scuola: "Jungle terror" prosegue la linea già collaudata con beats frenetici e bassline devianti di sapore hardcore.
Upcomers all'opera sulla side finale, con "Gauze" by Sample & Sol, stepper ossessivo con ritagli di amen drummer iniettati sulla base ritmica, malata e ruvida quanto basta.
Se siete familiari con le principali anime del suono Sonix, questo è un vinile che fa per voi, ma, fa piacere constatarlo, il remix di Trace dimostra ancora una volta come un produttore possa scegliere di essere creativo senza per questo snaturare la propria identità sonora.

Multiflavoured double vinyl in Sonix sauce for the summer, a poker of tracks that moves on the main directions of the label: that is the attitude for the hard synthetic sounds on one side, and the oldschool vibe always in the veins on the other.
The first vinyl sees the hosts proposing their "Ham & eggs" in double version: the original one blows, after a fluid and sparkling intro, in a stoned and telluric bassline almost a la Full Cycle, coupling it with wise female vocals and piano riffs inserts; the remixed one, by Trace, manage even to surprise more, since we could expects, seeing the last productions by this jungle veteran, an aggressive and techno-driving sound: our Trace, instead, drives towards more minimal and percussive landscapes, rendering the unpolluted power of the original, but slightly watering it on hypnotic pulses.
Third side can see the return on the label of US based Stratus, exponent of a definitely hard and mechanical sound, though enriched by reminiscence from the old school: "Jungle terror" keep on flowing the already tested line with frantic beats and deviant basslines smelling of hardcore.
Upcomers at work on the last side, with "Gauze" by Xample & Sol, obsessive stepper with snippets of amen drummer injected on the rhythm sections, sick and rough as needed.
If you are already familiar with the main directions of Sonix sound, this is a vinyl that's good for you, but, it's a pleasure to realize it, Trace's remix shows once again as a producer can chose to be creative without, for that, distorting its own sound ID.
