TOTAL SCIENCE - Pop psychology EP

Nuovo doppio vinile per gli iper prolifici Total Science in uscita dalla loro label principale, e, ancora una volta, il duo drum'n'bass per eccellenza sforna quattro ottime divagazioni in diverse direzioni musicali, pur rimanendo sotto l'influenza del proprio particolare stile di produzione.
"Pop psychology", che titola anche la raccolta, rivisita le principali costanti delle produzioni firmate TS, tra secchi e ossessivi riff di synth in chiaro riferimento old school, e ritmica che scivola fluida su un pattern 2-step, intarsiato con la consueta abbondanza di campioni di breaks.
"Rainbow kiss" sposta l'asse di produzione, invece, su suggestioni soul e funk, tra avvolgenti tappeti sonori, calde amniotiche basse frequenze e riusciti innesti di vocals femminili.
Tutt'altra storia su "Spy hunter", cupa e acida con i suoi sfregi di synth e la bassline distorta a dovere, che si avvolge su una ritmica meccanica e claustrofobica.
L'ultima scheggia di suono del doppio vinile, infine, poggia su uno degli arrangiamenti più ricchi di sapore funk dell'intera produzione del duo, sample di chitarra con wahwah, basso groovey e ritmica minimale, per non parlare del "bollente" campione vocale in lingua spagnola decisamente X-rated.
Total Science ai soliti eccellenti livelli di qualità, con punte di particolare precisione nei primi due brani. Disco multigusto.

New double vinyl for hyper-prolific Total Science, released by their main label, and, once again, the drum'n'bass duo par excellence comes out with four top digressions on different musical directions, though remaining under the influence of its own particular production style.
"Pop psychology", that also titles the EP, revisits the main constants of the productions signed by TS, between dry and obsessive synth stabs in a clear old school reference, and rhythm that flows fluidly on a 2-step pattern, inlaid with the usual breaks abundance.
"Rainbow kiss" moves the production axis, instead, on soul and funk suggestions, between rolling pads, warm amniotic bass frequencies and on-target injections of female vocals.
A totally different story on "Spy hunter", dark and acid with its synth scratches and the bassline distorted as due, that rolls on a mechanic and claustrophobic rhythm.
The last sound bit from the double vinyl, finally, builds upon one of the most funk flavored arrangements ever by the duo, wahwah guitar sample, groovey bass and minimal and fluid rhythm. And, of course, the "hot" spoken vocal sample in spanish, with no doubt X rated...
Total Science at the usual excellent quality levels, with peaks of particular precision on the first two tracks. Multi-flavored record.
