VARIOUS ARTISTS " 4 Vini"

Vini Medley e' un nome forse non molto conosciuto in Italia ma in Inghilterra e' famoso soprattutto per essere stato il fondato della Botchit & Scarper, etichetta indipendente che sin dagli inizi si e' occupata di drum'n'bass, breakbeat e delle nuove sonorita' diffusesi negli ultimi ani '90 e nel nuov millennio.

Il disco che vi presentiamo assume un significato molto paticolare essendo un tributo a Vini deceduto il 16 novembre 2000 a causa di tumore al cervello che non ha lasciato scampo. E questa opera che definiremmo "monumentale" trattandosi di ben 3 Cd e' un omaggio realizzato da alcuni artisti inglesi in memoria di Vini, 50 brani che attraversano vari generi musicali senza confini, dal drum'n'bass al breaks.

Il primo Cd - The Chill Out Cd - presenta artisti come Aquasky Vs Master Blasters, Atomic Hooligan (con ELesabeth Troy and UK Apachi), Soto, T.Power, Orange Krush e Chris Carter da tempo appartenenti alla "scuderia" Botchit & Scarper. Ma non solo: come guest troviamo anche Shara Nelson, Pressure Drop, Fuel's Tipper, Noize feat. Ragga Gisla.

Il secondo Cd - intitolato Breaks Cd - vede all'opera Atomic Hooligan che mescolano 15 brani inediti che spaziano dall'hip hop (Larger Than Life) al drum'n'bass ("Infrasound" dei Backdraft, "Dreams" dei Breakneck e "Transcendance" dei 10 Sui & Tamsin) senza trascurare suoni house ("Brother Analogue" di Rennie Pilgrem & Klaus) e riportando alla luce due episodi che vede protagonista lo stesso Vini ("Dominion" e "Human Warmth") .

E per finire il Cd 3 - a cura di Dj Tonic e Nick Noize - che nuovamente propongono drum'n'bass e hip hop/garage alternando nomi di una certa notorieta' (Shy Fx, RedSnapper, Bench, Sappo, Skinny - la cui "Morning Light" e' proposta nella versione Kosheen Remix ) ad altri che si stanno affacciando in questi tempi sulla scena (United Groove Collective ft. Shelley, Mr. Psyche, Mampi Swift). Ed anche in questo Cd un brano di Vini ("Tears" realizzato con Reece ft. Candice & Mc Moose)

Non solo comunque un omaggio ad un artista e ad un pesonaggio importante della scena inglese contemporanea ma anche un'occasione per testare di nuovo lo stato di salute della dance underground made in uk che, mai come ora, appare essere in ottima forma
