Nuova label, dalla Svezia e nuovo artista, Hidden Lab. E davvero un ottimo esordio anche per questa label emergente, che sceglie di seguire, regolarmente distribuita online e sul mercato mondiale, le tracce dei sentieri già praticati da Certificate 18 e Reinforced, solo per nominare le maggiori influenze. Hidden Lab propone un suono molto elettronico anche nei beats, senza però mancare di quel sapore funk astratto che possiamo già apprezzare nelle produzioni di Klute o Kabuki + Savine. Ed infatti al duo anglo tedesco richiama, senza mai citare pedissequamente, l’ambientazione del primo brano, “Tabloid”, che su sincopati beat elettronici pennella fluttuazioni di synth, colorate da tappeti sonori carichi di aroma soul, sviluppando calde tessiture e raffinate pulsazioni di groove. Il lato B, “Puzzle”, decisamente più scuro e meccanico, sfodera un possente ritmo techstep su cui si innesta un devastante amen drummer, mentre arpeggi ossessivi e inquietanti atmosfere elettroniche fanno crescere un climax che esplode definitivamente dopo il breakdown centrale. And even for this upcoming label (regularly distributed both on-line and worldwide) the first release shows high levels of creativity, following paths already walked by Certificate 18 and Reinforced, just to mention the major influences. Hidden Lab proposes a very electronic-flavored sound, even on the beats, without ever lacking that abstract funk mood we already appreciate in the productions by Klute or Kabuki + Savine. In fact the first track, “Tabloid”, recalls, without ever quoting, sounds already present on the tracks by the German-UK duo, developing syncopated electronic beats with brushed fluctuations of synths, colored by warm soulful pads, and creating warm textures and refined groove pulsations. The flipside, “Puzzle”, definitely darker and more mechanical, displays a thumping techstep rhythm on which a devastating amen drummer inserts, while obsessive arpeggios and eerie electronic atmospheres grow on a climax that definitively explodes after the central breakdown.
