| Primo 12” della Bassbin per un unico artista (i precedenti tre erano
regolarmente split singles): Zero Tolerance si muove alla grande,
sottolineando ancora una volta la freschezza del suono degli artisti di questa
label, che definitivamente sta esplodendo sia a livello di riconoscimenti come collettivo che a suon di nuove release anche fuori dei loro usuali percorsi (Zero Tolerance su Reinforced per esempio). Il primo lato è decisamente quello più solare, con una traccia grondante soul e
frizzante di funk minimale, su cui una voce femminile accenna tessiture vocali:
“Taken over” è un grande pezzo che si muove su coordinate già
percorse da Marcus Intalex + ST Files, Blue Sonix o Omni Trio (tanto per
citarne alcuni), dove funk e soul, pur riscaldando le atmosfere, non ostentano mai troppa saccarina negli arrangiamenti, tenuti minimali al |
| First Bassbin 12” for a single artist (the previous three were regularly
split singles): Zero Tolerance strikes deep, underlining once again the
freshness of the artists of this label, definitively bubbling out in the
scene both for public appreciations by most scene movers and for the new
releases out of their regular channels (Zero Tolerance
on Reinforced for instance). The A side is definitely the brighter one of the couple, with a
track sweating soul and sparkling of minimal funk, on which a smooth female
voice paints vocal nuances: “Taken over” is a great track that moves on
territories already explored by the ones called Marcus Intalex + ST
Files, Blue Sonix or Omni Trio (only to mention a few), where funk and soul,
though warming the mood, don't ever show too much saccharine on the Slightly rougher the flipside, that shows bright dub inspirations that render the sound near to the one by the dub master of drum’n’bass himself, Digital, but, though drawing ample inspiration both on the groove and in the colors of the track, it applies everything in a very personal way, giving life to a true narcotic and obsessive groove, with several hooks to jamaican music, from the dilated vocal samples to the breaks in the rhythm. Single of the month for me. To be abused on both sides. Buy it and consume it. |
