AQUASKY Badlands - Sucker Punch

Sonix raggiunge il vinile numero 5 di catalogo con questo singolo dei padroni di casa stessi, Aquasky, e continua a portare avanti il discorso del particolare suono seguito dalla label nelle sue release, quella giusta mistura di nuovo e oldschool che sta imperversando in quasi tutte le migliori uscite degli ultimi tempi. "Badlands" è un brano la cui ritmica dimostra ancora una volta come un ritmo two step può diventare qualcosa di non monotono e dejavu se curato con cura negli arrangiamenti: bassi gorgoglianti e sfregi di synth hardcore si inseguono in un roller potente e scuro, con campioni vocali affioranti qui e li a impreziosire ulteriormente il riferimento all’old school in un tripudio di inserti di break.. "Sucker punch" è invece un brano decisamente più duro aggressivo che sposta l’accento su una fluida ritmica techstep con violentissime scariche di synth, pur mantenendo comunque l’accento sulla old school vibe grazie agli allucinatissimi inserti vocali e ad un campione dal deciso sapore dub. La saga di questa label continua nell’anellare ancora una volta un dodici di ottima fattura e indicato per i palati più dediti al suono aggressivo.

Sonix reaches vinyl number 5 in the catalogue with this single by the owners themselves (Aquasky) and go on pushing forward that particular sound path followed by this label in its productions, that good mixture of new and old school that’s the common denominator of most of the best techstep releases in the last times. "Badlands" is a track whose rhythm section shows once again as a two step rhythm can be something not monotone and dejavu flavored if properly worked on the arrangements side: gurgling basses and scratches of hardcore-like synths plays hide and seek on a powerful dark roller, with vocal samples emerging to underline further the old school reference in a party of breaks inserts. "Sucker punch", instead, is definitely a more aggressive track that rolls on a fluid techstep rhythm with violent synth showers, though maintaining as well the accent on the old school vibe thank to the stoned vocal inserts and to a sample definitely on a dub suggestion. This label’s saga goes on piling up once again an excellent 12" aimed towards the lovers of the aggressive sound, without forgetting pushing the boundaries.

In the last hours AQUASKY says: Today we cut release number 6 on Sonix. This is a remix 12" of Sonix 5. Up for duties are Accidental Heroes and Simon 'Bassline' Smith. Both of them have produced serious rollers and thanks to our man Dave, they too are up on the site to check out.
