Listen it up! You come from the cold Russia. In the past-time we said that it was an
interesting place full of young talents, referring in particular to Moscow
and St.Petersbourg scenes. What about Novgorod?
We don't know - originally we are female duo from Nizhnevartovsk. 8) Frankly s
peaking Novosibirsk (where we really live) is about 3000 kilomiters far from Novgorod,
but the question is right in a point, nevertheless - it doesn't matter actually
where do you live in Russia if you don't live in Peterburg or Moskva. Life
(including cultural) is concentrated in these two cities. Others stand isolated,
so nothing significant happens here normally.
What about dub (and more generally electronic) one there? There are couple of groups playing roots raggae - but you can imagine how stupid the rastaman may look in the middle of Siberia. Electronic scene is almost lacking. The City of Dolls looks like a manifesto of a distopian statement. Isn't it? Some would say so. Even if we are not in moving crowds and preparing revolutions actually. There was something in the air for us working on that album - some feeling like the things aint go in the proper way, some desire for the change. Quite normal for young people, you know. So we have expressed that - normally there will be some people who share the same feeling, so probably they will comprehend our sound. Do you think the adjective "apocalyptic" is fitted to it?
"Post-appocalyptic" fits better. Because something bad already had happened
and we couldn't prevent it. But now its up to us to make moves to improve the
situation. Otherwise it will continue getting worse.
The City Of Dolls shows your great talent with different styles. Are there any reference to any previous workout? No concrete references. This is just a simple consequence, of us both enjoying different kind of music. We do not working hard on a stylization, but for us its interesting to dig into the slit between the well-classified styles. Obviously that is the place to find ourselves there, to find our sound. But mostly we are based on intention, not on experience. What about your musical background? Wrong had the academic piano classes, but it seems like he is not ready to use it yet. Not counting himself as a musician. Digital One has the roots of a drummer in deathmetal group. Afterwards he was playing techno as a DJ for several years. Are you going to prepare a tour? Any rumours about future collaborations?
Nothing special yet - we are open to consider the proposals. The closest perspective
for the collaboration is to crossover with our labelmates.
In your opinion, which are the most interesting issues from electronic music frontiers? We are definitely not the guys to ask about current trends. Our only source to touch them is the Internet. It is not the best way to reach the sharpest and latest events and albums. We prefer to define the priorities by ourselves. Post-digital sound remains very fresh for us. Are there any European country you would like to play? France What about the lyrics? Who wrote them? Wrong generates all lyrics and performs it. What would you like to change of this world? Broad question. Guess we would be pleased if our sound would make some people more thoughtful, more careful about what they do or say. And if it moves those who just follows the flow to nowhere. What's your favourite doll in the city you depicted? That runaway one from "Nomore" track. The one that discovered that escape doesn't mean freedom. |
